Secretary Rice to Travel to TurkeySecretary of State Condoleezza Rice traveled to Turkey November 2-3, 2007. The Secretary arrived in Ankara on November 2 to pursue bilateral meetings with President Abdullah Gul, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Foreign Minister Ali Babacan and then traveled to Istanbul to attend a ministerial level international meeting on Iraq November 2-3.

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice traveled to Turkey, Greece, Iraq, and Bulgaria April 24-28, 2006. In addition to discussions with leaders of the four countries, she took part in an informal meeting of North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Foreign Ministers to discuss preparations for the NATO Summit in Riga, Latvia this November. She also took part in a transatlantic dinner involving the Foreign Ministers of all NATO and EU countries. In Turkey and Greece she reviewed our shared interests with these strategic partners, including advancing democracy and peace in the broader Middle East and beyond, combating terrorism, Cyprus and Turkey’s EU accession, and Eurasian energy security. photo galleries: Greece | Turkey | Iraq | Bulgaria On a mission to show support for Iraq's fledgling new government, Secretary Rice and Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld traveled to Baghdad on unannounced visits. In Bulgaria, Secretary Rice signed a Defense Cooperation Agreement and discussed bilateral and regional issues. |
