United States Department of Agriculture FOREIGN AGRICULTURAL SERVICE Ankara, Turkey

The Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) is an agency of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). The Agricultural Counselor and staff of the Office of Agricultural Affairs at the American Embassy in Ankara are responsible for representing the interests of USDA in Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Turkmenistan. The mission of FAS is to expand opportunities for U.S. food, agricultural, forestry, and fisheries products and to promote world food security.

The office primarily focuses on three areas: 

1. reporting on commodity and trade developments and statistics, 
2. coordinating trade policy issues with host government officials, and 
3. promoting the sale of U.S. food, agricultural, forestry, and fisheries products for each of the covered countries. As part of this work, the office provides trade services for local importing companies who wish to buy American goods, and to U.S. companies who are developing new markets or expanding established ones.

Agricultural trade between the United States and Turkey is an important part of the close bilateral relationship.  Please contact the Office of Agricultural Affairs (FAS) within the Embassy for further details on these or other agricultural topics of interest.
